⚡ Prime Big Deal Days 2026: the Florida backup-power shortlist
The event has ended. Prime Big Deal Days 2026 ran October 6–7, asAmazon announcedon September 14. The shortlist method below doesn't depend on a sale, so it stays useful for the rest of hurricane season and for the next event. Every product button below is a paid Amazon link (disclosure).
📌 Event-only discounts are over
Any Prime Big Deal Days pricing ended with the event. We don't list prices and we don't promise a discount — Amazon's page is the price. Amazon hasn't announced its next sale event, so we won't guess at dates.
What usually goes on sale in this category
Based on how recent October events have played out, not a prediction of any future sale:
- Previous-generation power stations. When a brand ships a Gen 2, the Gen 1 is the unit that moves. The Gen 1 is usually still the right buy for a Florida fridge-and-fans outage.
- Mid-size 1kWh–2kWh LiFePO4 units. The volume sweet spot, and the tier most often bundled with a panel.
- Expansion batteries. Frequently discounted harder than the base unit — the cheapest way to double runtime if you already own the host station.
- Portable solar panels, especially in station + panel bundles.
- Small stuff that quietly matters: jump starters, 12V fridges, lanterns, weather radios, extension cords, surge protectors.
- Less often: newly released flagship models and whole-home tier units. If a SKU launched this year, don't build your plan around it going on sale.
Build your shortlist now — the 5-line checklist
The mistake people make in a sale is buying the biggest discount instead of the right unit. Write these five answers down before you shop and the decision takes thirty seconds later.
1. Capacity (Wh) — how long, not how strong
Watt-hours decide runtime. A full-size fridge averages roughly 50Wh per hour, so a 1024Wh station carries one for somewhere around 17 hours after inverter losses. Want overnight plus a workday? You're in the 2kWh conversation. Our formula and its assumptions are on the methodology page.
2. Continuous output (W) — what you can plug in at once
Add the running watts of everything you'd run simultaneously, then check the unit'scontinuous rating, not its peak. Fridge compressors surge on startup; that's what the peak number is for. A window AC or a well pump pushes you well past the 1800W line.
3. Chemistry — LiFePO4 or don't bother
LiFePO4 (LFP) cells are rated for thousands of cycles and tolerate Florida heat and garage storage far better than older NMC packs. Every unit we recommend for storm duty is LFP. If a listing won't say the chemistry, that's the answer.
4. Recharge speed — the number nobody checks
Outages come in waves. A unit that refills from wall power in about an hour lets you top off during a restoration window; one that needs eight hours doesn't. Also confirm the solar input ceiling matches the panel you'd actually buy.
5. Weight and ports — the boring dealbreakers
Can one person carry it up stairs or into a car for an evacuation? Does it have the DC output your CPAP needs, and enough USB-C for the whole household's phones? Count the outlets against your actual list.
Six units we're watching
Pulled from our full gear picks, specs checked 2026-08-15. These are the models we'd want to see move — not a claim that any of them will be discounted.

Amazon's Prime events are members-only, and a freeAmazon Prime trialcounts (paid link). The bigger reason to have it in Florida during hurricane season: 1–2 day delivery on most of the gear above. Carriers pause deliveries once watches become warnings, so the shipping speed is worth more than the discount when a cone tightens.
Honest answers
When was Prime Big Deal Days 2026?
October 6–7, 2026, in the US. Amazon announced the dates on September 14, 2026, and the event opened at 12:01 a.m. PT on October 6 and ran through October 7. It is over. Amazon has not announced its next event, so we will not guess at dates.
Did you need Prime to shop the sale?
Yes. Prime Big Deal Days deals were members-only, and a free Prime trial qualified. Prime is still worth a look in storm season for a different reason: one-to-two-day delivery of gear to a Florida address, which matters more than any discount if a system is already in the Gulf.
I missed the event. Should I wait for the next sale?
Only if you can genuinely wait. Last-generation models tend to be the ones discounted at big events, and we do not publish prices or promise a discount. The honest move is to keep a shortlist in your Amazon cart and let Amazon tell you when a price changes.
Hurricane season is still on. Should I hold off buying?
No. The Atlantic season runs through November 30, and backup power you do not own during an outage is worth nothing. If you need a unit now, buy it now. Use this page to plan an upgrade or a second battery, not to gamble on a storm-free month.
How we pick: research-based selection from manufacturer specifications, verified owner reviews, and observed street pricing, curated byHilario Herrera. We have not lab-tested these units; runtime figures use the standard formula (rated Wh × 0.85 inverter efficiency ÷ load watts). We do not publish live prices — the button shows Amazon's price, which is the price. Event dates are from Amazon's September 14, 2026 announcement.
